Reaching the Unseen, Helping the Unheard

his week, with the compassionate volunteers from ๐†๐— ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ and ๐’๐š๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฑ ๐๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐œ๐ž๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ, we were able to deliver ๐ฅ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž-๐ฌ๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐ž๐๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐๐จ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐จ๐ ๐จ ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฅ, in close coordination with our very own ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐’๐ข๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ ๐ƒ๐ฒ of Southwestern University Medical Center, currently assigned there.

From the hospital, we journeyed to the areas most devastated by the recent earthquake. What we witnessed was truly heartbreaking, ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ณ๐ž๐ซ๐จ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ง๐ž๐š๐ซ๐›๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ง ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ were hit harder than words can describe.

Entire families in ๐’๐จ๐ ๐จ๐, ๐๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐จ๐ง, ๐’๐š๐ง ๐‘๐ž๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐จ, ๐Œ๐ž๐๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ƒ๐š๐š๐ง ๐๐š๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ง remain ๐ฎ๐ง๐ซ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ง๐ž๐ž๐. Many have lost their homes, and basic necessities like water, food, and shelter are still scarce.

Yet, even in the midst of their struggle, we were met with ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ and ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž. Hearing โ€œ๐’๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ญ ๐ค๐š๐š๐ฒ๐จ ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ฒ๐จ ๐Œ๐šโ€™๐š๐ฆ, ๐†๐จ๐ ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌโ€ from those who received even the simplest relief items, it meant ๐ฌ๐จ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐œ๐ก ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐ฆ. It reminded us why we do this. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ™
These communities still badly need:
โ€ข Tents or trapal
โ€ข Clean drinking water
โ€ข Rice and ready-to-eat meals
